Kickstarter Katch of the Week is a series in which the author takes a look at Kickstarter projects and picks one game that excites them the most.
I've had the exciting opportunity to look over various Kickstarter project's this week. I saw some great games that caught my attention, but the one I'm most excited by is a game called Frogvale.
Frogvale is a game in which you are a construction worker turned bus driver, not a job switch I imagine many construction workers make. Your aim is to become a successful bus driver, hopefully keeping your job and being able to support your pregnant wife.
One of the main things that stood out in this game is the artistic style. It has basic art assets but the aesthetic is beautiful.
I've always been a fan of strange games like this, it reminds me of Crazy Taxi. This game comes with several fun challenges you have to keep on top of:
- Passengers will get angry if you take too long to pick them up.
- You need to give passengers the correct amount of change. They'll be paying in cash and will expect the correct change back.
- People in your life will decide to text you while you're driving and you need to find convenient times to message them back otherwise your relationship with them will deteriorate. I say screw them! If they're expecting me to text back while I'm at work the problem is with them and not me!
- There will also be other fun little encounters like street vendors boarding the bus and your passengers becoming irate. You'll randomly encounter gangs of criminals or roadblocks which you must come up with a solution for as they show up.
